Page 1Welcome to sector 9 of Paradise. This anthill is part of the Paradise sector because there is a large river that flows once a day making the land fertile and the surrounding landscape to remain green and fruitful. This middle-aged ant is called Charles.Page 2Charles works as a worker ant for his colony.Page 3His job is to remove waste from the colony and take it to the landfill. He served in this capacity longer than most of his fellow workers. He is 45 days old and strong. The elders of the group may have lived up to double its lifespan as an average worker ant lives about 90 days. Page 4 Charles remained silent and did what he was told his entire career. But he's going through a midlife crisis and is starting to question some things. Page 5 He remembers when he was just a young insect and how Father Bruce (a wise elder) took him to a pile of rubbish and told him that the king of the anthill needed him to move this rubbish to the landfill. Being ambitious and zealous in serving King Charles he worked diligently and moved the rubbish every day, all day. Charles was happy to serve; after all it was for the king.Page 6Charles also remembers Betsy, she knows everything. He kept talking about all the different jobs needed to run Paradise Sector 9, their ant colony. Betsy talked about how the king was the one who kept everyone busy. She also told him about the queen and how beautiful she was. It was the king and queen who kept the survival of the colony intact. Then there was Snap, one of Charles' best friends. During business hours it was known as Kernel Snap. He was three times the size of Charles and not an ant to cross. His job was to protect the colony,...... center of paper......and and is part of everything we do. Go search the kingdom and you will find it. He watched you grow and helped you make decisions during these long 45 days of your life.” Page 14Finally, Charles felt he had an answer. He thanked the queen and went to find the last player in the game, the king. He was a little confused about how much he missed it, he thought for sure he would have noticed if the king had been at the dump with him. But the queen was so sure that the king had the answers and so he would go and see him. It seemed like everyone else had met the king and knew why they existed and functioned. Page 15 So the search began... He looked for the king Page 16 And he looked at Page 17 And he looked at Page 18 and called him Page 19 And he looked at Page 20 "WHERE IS THE KING?" “WHO IS THE KING?” “THERE REALLY IS A KING?”
