Family gatherings such as a Sunday roast meal were an opportunity to spend quality time as a family; this being now a ritual that I have incorporated into my life and a part of my identity and culture. Having lived in Perth for four years, I felt that my culture and identity as a European New Zealander was very similar to that of a European Australian, as we shared the same values, ideas and traditions. For example, Australians mourn the death of loved ones by attending a church funeral; this was also a common practice in my New Zealand culture
