Preschool teachers plan lessons, evaluate their students, communicate with parents, and develop rules to teach good behavior. Furthermore, teachers are usually expected to supervise children outside of the classroom; such as at the time of dismissal, or during recess and lunch (Kindergarten and primary school teachers 2). The purpose of a preschool teacher in society is to prepare and educate children for the world (Job Description par. 1). The following quote presents a common misconception about what teaching children really means: “Most outsiders of education see preschool and kindergarten as nothing more than games and glorified babysitting, when in reality “play” is used to develop social, motor and other activities. life skills” (Stansbury 3).
