Topic > Italian Culture: Food and Wine - 790

When I decided on what I wanted to do for my multicultural symposium project I thought about all the places I've always wanted to visit. Italy has always been a place I wanted to go on holiday. Who wouldn't? There is a lot of culture there, from fashion to art and of course food, to name a few. Some of the best-known brands of clothing or bags have oriented themselves from there. It is wine country. Family and food are always important in Italian culture. Let me first talk about religion. As in most places, there is a wide variety of different religions, but in Italian culture most people were raised Catholic. About 88% of Italians are Catholic. The Roman Catholic Church is the largest and oldest church in Italy. The Catholic hierarchy is the college of bishops and the Pope. The art is well known in Italy. From the early Renaissance to more modern times art has changed radically. The Mona Lisa, the Last Supper and the statue of David are some of the most recognized works of art. The paintings are dark in color with incorrect proportions. In more modern Italian art more color and better proportions are used, the images do not seem still and have become more three-dimensional. I would say that art in any form has become more realistic and people have been thinking outside the box. When I think of Italy, food and wine come to mind. Many foods we love are part of Italian culture, pizza, pasta, cheeses and some desserts. Wine is one of my favorites and there is plenty of it in Italy. Some people in Italy make a living by owning wineries. These people have hundreds of acres of land full of vineyards. Most of the wine we drink in America comes from Italy. “Italy is now also the largest exporter of wine in...... middle of paper ......yid=ac52>.Italy. NP Network. January 26, 2014. .Jones, Abigail.
