Conflict theory is defined as the social collision between two different groups trying to accomplish the same task but having some sort of inequality within them. Examples of conflict theory are demonstrated in popular television programs and films and incorporated into the lifestyles of ordinary people. The three examples that will be used are the children's show “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” the common television series “Revenge,” and the popular YouTube video “Wealth Inequality in America.” There are many examples of the conflict theory within social classes. One of which exists in the children's TV show “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody”. They live in the “Tipton Hotel” which in real life is equivalent to the Hilton or any other extremely nice hotel. Basically, there is mostly the top 20% living in this hotel, then there is a family, a mother and her twins named Zack and Cody. They weren't in the bottom 20%, but they were very close. The school and everything else was right behind the hotel and they were provided with everything except when it came to the upper class. For example, whenever London got exactly what he wanted, he would always say "Yay Me"! This occurred multiple times in each show as the twins were constantly blamed for his mistakes and berated for things they had done wrong. Furthermore, London is a spoiled and very ignorant teenager who struggles to speak every day, has excellent grades because she is treated differently by teachers and even has the money to pay someone to help her. While Zack and Cody struggle a lot with their grades. They struggle to concentrate and stay on track with their schoolwork because they have so many distractions... middle of paper... are just a few of the many different ways inequalities between social groups lessons are demonstrated. You can simply walk the streets of any large city and tell who is in each class and whether or not they will associate with each other. This is disturbing because we Americans, who should be united as one and strive together for equality, are some of the most unequal individuals in the world. Conflict theory goes hand in hand with different classes and there are many problems between the two groups caused by the stigmas and higher levels of power that the upper class has as they own the majority of the nation's income.
