IntroductionGlobalization is a process that occurs as a result of technological and human innovation. The term “globalization” has attracted enormous interest and attention in recent years simply because it changes the world around us in so many ways and at such a rapid rate. Many see globalization as a negative, believing that it develops inequality between countries, threatens employment and even halts social progress, others see globalization as a process that must be undertaken for the benefit of economic development and as a force that it cannot be stopped. This essay will examine the benefits and threats that globalization poses to the business environment and will consider using a relevant newspaper article to provide examples. Opportunities Globalization has meant that many opportunities have arisen for both businesses and people during its development. One such opportunity, supported by the chosen newspaper article, is the opportunities offered by changes to the traditional workplace and work organisation. In recent years it has become clear that the link between production and staff employment does not have to be concentrated in a specific physical location. Due to the advancement of globalization regarding the internationalization of manufacturing, companies operating in many different societies may seek to move their manufacturing sites to many different countries around the world to best suit their company's objectives and minimize costs. This opportunity created by globalization has meant that costs have dropped significantly and jobs have been created around the world by companies that would traditionally only have workers in one location.
