Healthcare organizations are always looking for ways to reduce costs, increase patient satisfaction, manage their operations effectively and above all improve the quality of their services, as the environment Healthcare continues to change dramatically. There are different interpretations of what quality is. Kairong (2010) states that it can refer to the process in which inspections are conducted to detect defects, the process in which products are manufactured to meet customer requirements, or it can be defined as customer satisfaction. No matter how quality is defined, Manghani (2011) argues that it “should remain the hallmark of a company's products and services” (p.34) and should not only concern the product and services, but also the way where employees carry out their work and work processes. To ensure the quality of products and services, many healthcare organizations have implemented some form of quality management system in their companies. Through quality management, Manghani (2011) SOEs develop and implement quality policies and objectives to address quality issues. Manghani (2011) states that two aspects of quality management are quality control and quality assurance. The objective of both quality control and quality assurance is to ensure that quality requirements are met. Regarding quality control, Manghani (2011) states that observation techniques and activities are used to ensure that quality requirements are met; while quality assurance provides confidence and uses planned systemic activities to meet quality requirements. Manghani (2011) states that it is extremely important for management to play an active role in establishing quality management systems and monitoring the quality of the company's products or services... middle of paper... issues.
