Result of your decisions It is difficult to make decisions in life knowing that it is up to you to make the right choice without knowing what the outcome will be. In “Gregory” by Panos Ionannides the soldier must decide whether to follow the command or his own instinct. Furthermore, in “Just Lather, That's All” the barber also has to make a choice in a short amount of time, whether to kill Torres or not. Furthermore, he doesn't have orders to kill Torres - it was his decision to kill someone. The protagonists of “Gregory” and “Just Lather, That's All” both face moral dilemmas throughout the stories. In the story “Gregory” by Panos Ionannides, the soldier decides to follow his ethics. In the story “Just Lather That's All” by Hernando Tellez, the barber chose to meet his morals. Both the soldier and the barber describe that they both have to make wise decisions. The short stories "Just Lather, that's all" and "Gregory" have the pressure of one's own instincts or someone else's orders. The pressure that the main characters face in the story is that they must be forced to make a careful decision because it can affect someone's life at any moment. The soldier is in the position of having to decide whether to kill his daredevil friend or face the headquarters at great risk. “Gregory” is a story about loyalty, friendship and irony in which the soldier realizes that his circumstances are difficult. The message from the headquarters was very clear and indicated "As soon as the execution of Lieutenant Rafel is announced, the hostage Gregory will be shot and his body will be hanged from a telegraph pole in the main street as exemplary punishment" (Ioannides, 4 ). This quote depicts that… middle of the card… In both stories both characters rely on moral and ethical decisions. The choices you make can lead to such huge outcomes of right or wrong. The similarity between the stories of the soldier and the barber lies in their loyalty, this is because they both thought about the consequences of killing someone and the results. However, they both think of themselves before anyone else, because the soldier knew that if he didn't kill Gregory he would be in danger. The barber, however, knows that if he killed Torres he would be killed by the revolutionaries. People have both morals and ethics, which they must conclude by knowing which outcome is best for them or the situation they find themselves in. The results of right or wrong can ultimately disappear knowing that individual's choices can appear and guide them to a reasonable moral or ethical choice.
