Brothers are often mentioned during the oath due to the dominant amount of males involved. Reading the Oath gives no indication as to why this is reserved for males only. In conclusion, the Hippocratic Oath was an innovative tool to allow patients and doctors a set of standards that will support the views of society; this includes religious beliefs, using skills for good, and continuing to learn medicine. This oath allowed doctors to be more accepted by society now that patients understood the role they played. Which, in turn, results in more people seeking medical care when needed.
