Topic > Hormonal control of metamorphosis in Anurans - 580

Prometamorphosis is characterized by continuous growth, especially of the limbs, and the onset of minor metabolic changes which these events are caused by the development of the thyroid gland and the sensitivity of these tissues towards thyroid hormones are secreted. In prometamorphic development there is the beginning of metamorphic changes, since the concentrations of the hormones involved in metamorphosis change significantly compared to the previous premetamorphic stage, within the prometamorphic stage the concentrations of these hormones differ within the sub-phases of this phase. Early Prometamorphosis and Late Prometamorphosis are the names given to the substages of Prometamorphosis. Metamorphosis in anurans is initiated chemically by the decline (descriptive word) of prolactin, as previously mentioned the antagonistic action of prolactin on thyroid secretory hormone (TSH) and also that TSH influences the secretion of the thyroid hormones, triiodothyronine (T3) thyroxine (T4), which are responsible for metamorphic changes. In early prometamorphosis, the conce...
