In Racheal Opielski's essay "Vaccines Should Be Mandatory" Opielski's main argument for why someone should be vaccinated is because of the sudden nature with which epidemics spread. Opielski therefore believes that to ensure people are protected and mandatory vaccinations must be implemented. However, in the event of a pandemic, vaccines often do not have time to be vigorously tested and trialled, making them more dangerous. For example, a new flu vaccine is created every year because the virus transforms and becomes something different every year. Scientists have only a limited amount of time to test and experiment with these new vaccinations before they are injected into humans. Such a short time frame is not enough to see the possible consequences and side effects that the vaccine might have and who might have an allergic reaction. Rushing to vaccinate often makes the vaccine unsafe and can cause side effects worse than the disease itself. In 1976, an Army recruit died of swine flu. This triggered panic about an epidemic in the United States, and a vaccine was quickly developed. Due to the vaccine's rapid development, it has been largely untested and inadequately examined. The vaccine caused 532 people of the 48 million vaccinated to become paralyzed from a disease called Guillian-Barre and killed another 25 people. (Cite) In order for people to begin a campaign for compulsory vaccination, the vaccine itself must have no chance of causing such devastating effects on people as it did in 1976. There are countless cases where vaccines that have not been properly tested cause death and serious injuries to people. If this type of tragedy were to occur due to families being forced to vaccinate their children…half of the document…the consequence inflicted is that intended or intended)” as assault.(quote) Therefore vaccinating someone is classified as assault and if the vaccine causes an unexpected side effect to the child it is also classified as assault. This is a clear violation of human rights that should have no place in a civil society where freedom is valued and forms a solid foundation on which our Constitution was built. In conclusion, it is clear that supporting mandatory vaccinations is a serious violation of human rights. rights and should be condemned. I don't think it's right to not give people a say in what they want regarding medical care and to give too much power to the government and healthcare organizations. Anyone who supports mandatory vaccination has not thought clearly about the health effects, religious oppression and violations of freedom it entails.
