Homeless means a person living on the street or in a shelter; the lack of a substantial job or place to live is often the reason many remain homeless. Due to the financial situation in the United States, many people inevitably lose their jobs. Many times, students find themselves in the crosshairs of their parents' misadventures. At an important time in their lives, this can often cause additional stress on their shoulders which could lead to them dropping out of school altogether. Based on The Homeless Education Assistance Team's February 2013 PCS survey, there were approximately 2,961 homeless students (The HEAT Staff). That just one county in Florida has so many homeless students is appalling. If jobs were created only for homeless students and shelters reduced the requirements for them to stay, the number of homeless students living on the streets would decrease.
