Introduction to Bill GatesBill Gates was born on October 28, 1995 in Seattle, Washington. He attended Harvard University from 1973-1975. Gates has a family of his own; he is married to Melinda French and they have three children together. William Henry Gates II who is a lawyer and Mary Maxwell who is a teacher are the parents of Bill Gates. In 1975 he co-founded the Microsoft Corporation, turning his software company into one of the world's most successful companies and establishing himself as one of the world's richest men. Although Gates started Microsoft as a small business based on a single innovative software program that he had helped develop, his business acumen was its true genesis. Because he was Microsoft's longtime CEO, he was able to borrow and integrate the innovations of other computer programmers and sell them to a new and expanding home computer market. Ten years after the founding of Microsoft (1985), the computer market recorded revenues of $140 million, which grew to $28 billion in 2002. As one of the pioneers of home computing, Gates proved himself to be a technological visionary and a software application guru.Bill Gates grew up in a thriving area of Seattle, Washington, with his parents and two sisters. Gates' father was a lawyer and his mother was a teacher, so he attended a public school and then Lakeside School, which was a private college preparatory institution. Gates attended Lakeside when he first became interested in the field of computer programming. While at Lakeside he met a friend who, ironically, became his future business partner. Bill Gates and his friend Paul Allen developed their first software program at the age of thirteen. He worked during the summer and rarely took vacations. If the work wasn't completed the way he wanted it to be completed, then he would fire you. On the other hand, Steve Jobs was very relaxed. He wanted to retain his employees instead of driving them away. In addition to their different working styles, they have achieved great different results. Bill Gates' first achievement was the development of a programming language called BASIC for the Altair computer, which is the first commercially successful personal computer. As for Steve Jobs, his first success was the Apple II, the most popular and best-selling personal computer of the time. The difference between their early results is due to the fact that Microsoft's first development was software, while Apple's first major success was hardware.
