I took care of a patient named Rose, she was a sweet old lady in her early nineties and had been admitted to the rehabilitation department of the facility due to a fracture of the hip. Rose was a happy person and was nice to have around. A few weeks later, Rose began to deteriorate after contracting a salivary gland infection. After refusing to eat or drink all day, I mixed vanilla ice cream and milk while remembering that milkshakes were his favorite. To her family's surprise, Rose finished it and jokingly asked for more. I remember my youngest daughter thanking me with tears in her eyes, knowing that her mother didn't have much time left. As a CNA, I am fortunate to be the person who offers comfort and care to patients during the last days of their lives and simply offers life's joys, like milkshakes. As a personal assistant I will continue to provide patients with the best care possible, but on another level. There are certainly many rewards in life, but for me none are greater than being part of your healthcare team. It is in treating and helping patients that I find the peace I once felt when I skated with my older brother,
