A. In this presentation our group will cover the culture of Italy. Alternative names for Italy are as follows: Repubblica d'Italia, Italia and Repubblica Italiana. The current population of Italy is 58.2 million and the capital is Rome.B. Italy is surrounded by four Mediterranean seas and is currently home to three active volcanoes: Stromboli, Vesuvius and Etna. Italy is also popularly known for being the home of the Pope.C. Today we will define Italian culture through these five areas: religious beliefs and holidays, family structure, educational structure, business structure, and political practices. [Transition to the body of the speech]: We will start by talking about religious beliefs and Italian holidays. And how religions are something sacred for Italians.II. BODY. In Italy, 90% of the population is Roman Catholic according to “Countries and their Cultures.” This high percentage of Roman Catholics in Italy may be due to the fact that it is the home of the Pope. The other percentage of the religion is made up of Jews, Muslims, Orthodox and Eastern Rite Catholics. Another known reason why it is highly Catholic is because all other religions have mixed with Spanish folk beliefs. Rome is the capital of Italy and the center of the Roman Catholic religion.1. Italy has over 2,000 years of holy places and thousands of shrines, relics and churches in Rome. Numerous relics of St. Peter and other popes are preserved in Vatican City. Religious ceremonies are frequent in Italy, which are the holy days of the Roman Catholic Church: Christmas, Easter, Pentecost, Immaculate Conception and a few others.
