Ethical judgments limit the methods available in the production of knowledge in both the arts and natural sciences. Each system or method has its weaknesses and strengths. Morality is strengthened by social taboos against certain moods. (Li) I believe that ethical judgment is somehow detrimental to the understanding of a work of art. In most works of art there are many underlying themes. When a work is censored and not seen as “ethical” then we lose the true meaning of what the artist is trying to create. The intended knowledge or understanding of the work is transformed into a different meaning. We each set our own codes of ethics, but I believe our society has manipulated our minds to conform to their ideas of “ethical.” This is a conscious thought and is something we do instinctively. There are different ethical groups or religions, such as Christianity or Muslims. These different religions follow different beliefs. Muslims read the Quran and believe that certain things are unethical in the way Christians use the Bible. Every religion teaches a similar code of ethics. They emphasize respect for other religions but force you to conform to their religion. We view religious people as highly ethical people, they must act in a certain way and follow certain guidelines. We adopt some characteristics from our parents that we don't notice at an early age. Our parents teach us the right way to do certain things and what is ethical and unethical. These teachings shape us fundamentally. This can have multiple consequences, for example being raised "ethically" can cause a child to rebel and perform unethical actions. This results in later in our life. The people we hang out with and develop friendships with… middle of paper… ics. In my examples above the main problem is the dilemma of making a mistake. It's difficult to produce good work if you don't make mistakes. Mistakes are the key factor, I believe in producing quality work. If someone judges another for their mistakes and can only focus on the negative aspects of their work, then I believe that they themselves are not moral. It all boils down to opinions about what is ethical and moral. In truth it is not possible to have an exact definition of what is moral or ethical. Overall ethical judgments limit the methods available in the production of knowledge in both the arts and natural sciences. Artist and scientist are afraid to express themselves. They censor and limit their knowledge to please people. Without limits you will be able to express yourself freely and show the true work of art and discoveries of the artist and scientist.
