The first major impact Milton made when he made chocolate accessible to all people and not just the upper classes. Additionally, an entire city was created that improved and helped our economy. Founding his own city may have made an impact in the United States, but during the Great Depression he made even more. He did more construction projects so he could hire more people and create jobs. At the end of the Great Depression era Milton was proud to say that he had not let go of any of his employees. (The Hershey Corporation, 2014). The lives of hundreds of children were affected at the time Milton was alive because he gave them an education and a home which was the school he founded. When Kitty died, she donated her life savings, sixty million dollars, to her school. This allowed his school to expand and become larger. During World War II, near the end of his life, Milton created a chocolate bar for soldiers to eat that didn't melt and had nutritional value.
