Topic > Lord of the Flies by William Golding - 1098

This book report is about Lord of the Flies. The author of this book is William Golding and it was published in 1954. William Golding was born in England on 19 September 1911. He was a British writer, poet and playwright. His best work is Lord of the Flies. He won the Booker Prize for literature in 1980 for his novel Rites of Passage and also received the Nobel Prize for literature in 1983. He took part in the Second World War. He was in the Royal Navy. From the experiences of World War II, he said, “I began to see what people were capable of doing. Anyone who went through those years without understanding that man produces evil as the bee produces honey must have been blind or with the wrong head." World War II ended in 1945 and after a few years the world was still suffering the consequences of the war. So that temporal world was not a stable time. The people who went to war were devastated by the war and so were their families. All these are the reasons why William Golding wrote Lord of the Flies. The book that is Lord of the Flies describes all the characteristics of the human being. The main characters in Lord of the Flies are Ralph, Piggy and Jack. These three guys are taking on the best main characters. Ralph was elected leader of the schoolchildren's group for the first time. He was a rational person who was good at trying to build shelters and keeping the fire going to let out the smoke that would be a rescue signal. Ralph's election and the conch represented democracy. Piggy has poor eyesight and also suffers from asthma. Since his name is pig, he is fat. He is also one of Ralph's men and suggested that blowing into the conch made Ralph become a leader. Piggy had many good ideas and this shows that Piggy is intellectual. Piggy was killed by a red stone rolling...... middle of paper......rld among the children. In Lord of the Flies, Jack, Roger, and other members of Jack's tribe killed pigs to show off their power. Most importantly for Jack, he used Piggy's death to show his power to the other boys and shouted "Have they all eaten as much as they want?" continuously. In the book The Hunger Games, there is a similar thing that wealthy people liked hunger games where selected people killed each other. Most people might mention Ralph or Piggy in the review section, however I think Jack is the most important character in the book. If Jack doesn't exist in the book, the story may have no meaning. In other words, if Jack didn't appear in this book, the story will go the way Ralph wants. Everyone will work to build shelters and light fires to produce smoke signals. Then that story will just be a teenager's coming-of-age novel.
