Art was widely used to express traditions in the Himalayan region. The use of paintings was instrumental in reflecting a large amount of narratives, as indicated by the literary works in the “Once Upon Many Times” exhibition. Works of art, especially paintings, can also be used to comprehensively analyze and describe a picture of the lifestyle of people from different historical periods, from their social organizations, economic life, and religious views and practices. Therefore, this analytical research paper attempts to compare two artworks of Shantarakshita and scenes from his life in Tibet on Rubin Museum cloth and Drowa Sangmo elephant image on the aspects of color, shape, cultural and historical dimensions as an exemplification of different temporal and spatial elements. These two works of art come from the Himalayan region. Shantarakshita and scenes from his life in Tibet Tibet; Pigments On Canvas; 19th century; 35 X 24 represents the Indian monk in his holy monastery. In this painting, the artist extensively used different colors to differentiate the different elements of the painting, especially the background and the types of housing from this era. The golden temple at the top left of the image indicates mileage in religious orientation and humility as everyone is in a prayerful mood judging by their sitting position. This image is typical in the sense that the artist painted different people occupying different tables to represent different levels of sanctity in society. Furthermore, the use of different colors represents nature, mood and unity. For example, the color green represents vegetation and nature, while the color orange represents the religious robes of traditional people united by the same religious... center of the card... religious order of religious command. Although the political influence varies in the second painting, the dimensions of the humans remain the same with differences represented by the type of clothing, tools used and means of transportation. In conclusion, pictorial painting can be used to convey information about the life of a people. However, each image is unique in its interpretation of the theme reflected. Some paintings have a metaphorical meaning and require critical mental analysis. The use of size and shape in the art represents themes of the time. Color and proportion are among the strategies used by artists to communicate different messages in painting. This era is characterized by a rich nature-tradition relationship in all aspects of life. Authority and hierarchical order play the role of uniting people who appear to share common values, norms and religious inclinations.
