Pharmacists have very important roles in healthcare from all points of view. To physicians and licensed practitioners who write a written prescription, the pharmacist reviews the patient's history, health conditions, and interactions with the new prescribed medication. As a pharmacy technician (for six years) I had some sort of overview of what they accomplished during a shift, but I didn't know everything about what I know now from this research. Pharmacy students who are in the process of obtaining their Doctorate of Pharmacy (D.Pharm.) undergo a series of training, education and internship courses to become well-rounded pharmacists. At the beginning they must have skills in reading comprehension, active listening, critical thinking and conversation. The education and training to become a pharmacist requires 2 to 3 years of undergraduate and D. Pharm. the program lasts 4 years. In their final year of study they must practice with a graduate and accredited licensed pharmacist (like an internship) and pass the pharmacy knowledge exam known as the Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT). Although they have a post-completion option for D.Pharm, several universities offer a PhD award. degrees. PhDs give them the opportunity to work in laboratories and further research experiments. After graduating and passing the PCAT to become licensed, the new licensed pharmacist has endless responsibilities. Most states, particularly Louisiana, have a 3:1 ratio; three licensed technicians, two licensed technicians and one licensed technician, or two licensed technicians and one pharmacy student interning with a licensed pharmacist. Pharmacists can work in hospitals, retail pharmacies, independent pharmacies, clinics or healthcare management organizations...... middle of paper...... and consultation on line 4. Although I would be very good as my boss and many others told me to go for it just because the doubt in my mind tells me no, but I still have some time before I make this final decision after completing my core courses before joining a field of study.
