The movie "Girl, Interrupted" is about a young woman named Susanna who attempts suicide and consequently checks herself into a mental hospital called Claymore. When she gets there she is diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. There he meets many people, but focuses primarily on Lisa, a proud sociopath, and Daisy, a victim of implied incest who appears to suffer from OCD. Susanna leaves Claymore with Lisa to visit Daisy and after Daisy's suicide she returns to Claymore where she is later released. There was a lot of variety in the movie “Girl, Interrupted” because it is set in a mental hospital. The three most prominent disorders present were obsessive compulsive disorder, antisocial personality disorder, and borderline disorder. OCD has symptoms such as compulsive hoarding, extreme anxiety, depression, and food aversions. It currently has no clear cause, but is said to be a product of genetics or abnormalities in brain and serotonin levels since controlling serotonin tends to help in the treatment of OCD. OCD is found in 2.3% of Americans. It is more noticeable in adults than in children. Antisocial personality disorder, also known informally as psychopathy/sociopathy, is a disorder in which people elicit manipulative behavior and lack morals. This includes disregard for rules, violence, superficial charm, promiscuity, a superiority complex, and difficulty forming attachments. This is said to be caused by genetics, modeling, or watching other people perform this type of behavior. 3.3% of Americans are diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder. It is 70% more common in males than females and is very common in Daisy only ate her father's rotisserie chicken and arranged chicken strips. Once he was done, he would put the chicken bones under the bed. This shows that he suffers from OCD because he had taste aversions to foods other than his father's chicken and compulsively organized and held the chicken. He also had anxiety because he would have to take Valium which is used to control anxiety. Like Daisy, Lisa had an accurate portrayal of her diagnosis. Lisa showed most signs of antisocial personality disorder. He has a false charm as he interacts with the orderlies and other Claymore patients. She was also very aggressive towards Susanna when she found out that Susanna would be released and showed no concern for her feelings while reading her diary. In the same scene he explains how he feels superior to Susanna. Unlike the others, Susanna was apparently stable so it was a little harder to see the symptoms of borderline personality disorder. He attempted suicide, as explained at the beginning of the film, by chasing a bottle of aspirin with a bottle of vodka. He also had volatile relationships with a professor, a boy named Toby, and a janitor at Claymore. In the flashbacks she had, she isolated herself from the crowd and had a pessimistic attitude among them all. For example, he talked to the principal about his plans after college and had a strong feeling
