Compton described his parents as a loving, hard-working couple. He couldn't remember much about his parents' marriage. In 1976 his parents divorced. Mrs. Compton reported that she did not know the reason for the divorce and remained with her mother after the divorce. She reported that although her parents divorced, she was able to visit her father on the weekend. Ms. Compton reported that she was doing well after her parents' divorce because she continued to have a relationship with both parents.
