It seems like the whole world has more demand for meat right now than when factory farming started. In the United States alone, over nine billion animals are raised and slaughtered for human daily consumption (sanctuary farm). If this doesn't seem shocking read this: Last year alone 10,509 cattle were killed, 2,834,600 chickens were culled, the number of pigs rose to 37,235 and the number of dead turkeys is 78,823 (humane society). It doesn't seem like a big deal, but it actually is: Many of these animals are mistreated and live in unsanitary conditions, some of which include cows, pigs, and chickens. Not only do factory farms abuse animals, they also cause damage to the environment. 70% of the land that supported the Amazon rainforests has now been driven to deforestation because it has been turned into pasture for animals (human society). Intensive agriculture has put a strain on resources such as land, water and fossil fuels. This affects us deeply because the more resources we need for intensive agriculture, the less we have for other more important needs (agricultural sanctuary). This issue not only affects the environment and animal rights, but also affects our human health. Many agricultural industries use growth hormones in farm animals to increase the weight of animals with all these chemicals which are not suitable for human consumption. Intensive farming may seem like an excellent idea for the production of meat, milk and eggs but in reality this is not the case, in fact it is the opposite and you will see the reasons. To avoid further damage from this cycle we will have to invent ideas that help us, animals and the environment. First of all, many of the meat produced on these so-called "farms... in the middle of the paper... in the supermarket. Only by doing so will we help save the environment, animal life and health. Fortunately, it is being done something to alleviate the problem. Celebrities like Laura Marano are the cause of this by starting meatless Mondays where people don't eat meat every Monday for the whole year (aspca) are also bills passed to reduce the number of animals killed and the conditions in which we live (human society). Let us take matters into our own hands, we can stop this cycle of deception and finally put an end to the intensive farming that began so long ago.
