Topic > Green spaces and their impact on the microclimate - 1837

Introduction: In recent years, interest in green spaces has increased due to their significant impact on the microclimate. Trends started with green roofs on buildings, recently studies revealed that vertical green facade is not only for aesthetic aspects, but could be more influential and beneficial to balance the temperature in extreme climates, add to this other advantages such as increasing property value, well-being and health, and energy savings. This article will present the definition of green walls and recent interests on this concept in hot climates, it will mainly focus on its passive solution to highlight the environmental benefits and difficulties on individual buildings. The study will be related to some scientific articles in this area through the database and a review from the business side to find any considerations to make it more efficient. Green Wall Classifications: The concept of green facade is not a new method, traditional architecture shows many interests in it, especially in hot climates. Nowadays, the theory is based on traditional methods with the potential to involve technology and new materials to make the green facade a sustainable passive solution in many buildings. (Kohler 2008) First, green façade systems need to be defined. According to Koler there are mainly two typologies of this system:1- In traditional architecture: creepers, trees.2- In modern architecture: green facade planted on the ground or a pot and climbing up the wall through a net or other structure, and a living facade that is planted on a special wall located opposite the main wall and has small pots with a water and nutrient supply system. Parts of the vertical green system are found in the center of the paper......minds in architecture to provide buildings with numerous environmental benefits such as temperature reduction through shading, insulation and evaporation. and promotes natural ventilation in some conditions and could block the wind if it is thick enough. It has been shown that it could be an excellent sound insulator if placed in particular places in the building but not like green roofs, it also improves air quality and hydrates the surrounding environment, which is preferred in hot, dry climates. Surely, to realize a successful concept it is necessary to take into account many considerations, such as the size and type of this structure, the location and orientation are a crucial aspect for plants, the choice of suitable plants for each climate and how plan it in the early stages. of the project to study the budget and the combination of its structure with the main building.
