Topic > The quest for democracy, unleashed by Egypt's Tahrir...

USA in New York's financial district, Wall Street, Zuccotti Park on September 17, 2011. An encampment is beginning to form, with a plan sketched out. Initially people protest against Wall Street, but this small movement begins to spread across the United States and paradoxically it is due to its unclear purpose. Protesters are now, widely, showing outrage towards the Uncle Sam Society, and each new day has seen a hurricane of improvements, new occupied sites, challenges, civil discussions, criticisms and results. Despite the fact that the complex made no obvious demands, one thing quickly became clear: that it was a leaderless movement composed of the "99%" of expanding masses of individuals robbed of their due supply of wealth by public opinion and doors opened through tycoons and billionaires who are the remaining "1%". Then the main objective was slowly taking shape: the pursuit of "democracy", sparked by the Egyptian Tahrir Square uprising and the Spanish acampadas, seeking the an end to the substantial contamination of the US pseudo-democratic system. But the question is, what is "democracy" from the point of view of the "99%"? “What is our only request?” Indeed, that “one request” implies much more than a change in the political, social and economic system of the United States, based primarily on moral concerns. The main problem raised by the movement is "disparity", be it economic, social or ethnic. His goal is none other than to stop corruption and cultivate the resurrection of the country's initial democratic promises. Occupy Wall Street exemplifies the disappointment of numerous US citizens with the current monetary climate and foundation in America. Many see it or... middle of paper... on the other hand it seems utopian – demanding what by definition cannot be obtained. It fails to offer an intelligible hypothesis and as a result its practice is further flawed. As indicated, he undertakes an "occupation" that hurls multitudes of police against his vanguard and opens that vanguard to police ruthlessness, capture, detention and long-term criminal branding. This is often the case with any socio-political distress in the context of free enterprise, but, knowing that it is not being resolved in terms of jobs, development demands are released effortlessly from the center of the challenge. I personally think that this rebellious potential, however, will be the key to many changes, but not to the degree of change that OWS hopes for, it will take some time to achieve what they are asking for, but I think it is achievable .
