Wormwood, or Artemisia maritima, is a plant that requires little maintenance and is easy to grow. This plant is great for beginner herbalists. In nature, sea wormwood grows along sea coasts in Europe and Asia. Wormwood is a rustic plant that can tolerate drought, maritime exposures and temperatures down to -15°C. It has a sweet smell similar to lavender but is very bitter to the taste. It is easily recognizable from afar due to its silver-gray color. It is a flowering plant, almost two meters tall. The leaves are narrow, covered with silver velvety fur. It has small oblong yellow flowers, containing three to six florets, in August and September. They are hermaphroditic and are pollinated by the wind. Below I will demonstrate my knowledge and skills in caring for wormwood. Wormwood is an anthelmintic (dewormer), antipyretic (reduces fever), antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative (relieves gas), emmenagogue (blood flow stimulator), stimulant (mental and physical acuity), gastric (stimulator of digestion and appetite), tonic and hallucinogen. Its flavor is very bitter so I add sugar in a 3:1 ratio to make it palatable. The bitterness comes from the excretion of salt water from the leaves. For my purposes, I would use wormwood as a medicinal potion for intermittent fevers and as a vermifuge for both the wizarding community and magical creatures. I added brandy to the potions and used it as a gastric infusion, emmenagoque and stimulant. Long-term use of this potion can help cure hysterical disorders and hypochondriasis. Although I know that pure wormwood oil is extremely poisonous, wormwood potions are edible if taken three to five milligrams (mg) per day or as a herb two to three mg per day. Essent... center of paper... in bunches, fanning leaves so they can be air dried evenly. The best place to hang them is in a shaded outdoor space. The drying temperature should be constantly around 21°C. On average, I find that each plant produces about 0.35% semi-dried weed. After they finish drying, I immediately store them in airtight glass jars and put them in my storage room. Even though this plant is relatively easy to grow, you still need to make sure it receives adequate sunlight and moisture, as well as the right type of soil. Wormwood will spread, so you need to keep an eye on it and prevent it from taking over your garden. Due to its highly toxic nature, it is necessary to ensure the protection of both plants and living things. As long as you are aware of the possible problems this plant can cause, you should have much success growing wormwood.
