In the UK, the public school system is facing the same problem we are facing in the US. 10% of children worldwide carry excess fat leading to the increase and prevalence of childhood obesity. In the United States, we are trying to implement a policy that offers better, healthier food and drink options for children during school hours. In the UK, however, the school system is based on healthier food and drink, except when children bring their own lunches. Typically, when children bring their own lunch, it usually consists of high-sodium foods and processed foods. To prevent children from carrying these types of food, the government took the initiative and created an intervention by designing a SMART lunchbox. Randomly, they chose 176 schools out of 88 schools in the county. Furthermore, 89 schools divided into two groups participated. The group received the SMART packed lunch with support materials and was divided into three phases. The first phase contains some apples, a menu for the week and a shopping block.
