Heavy smoking affects the distribution of body fat. This occurs due to insulin resistance to absorb nicotine. Smoking increases the accumulation of visceral fat which increases the likelihood of getting type 2 diabetes. Body mass index and hip expectancy ratio are concerns for smokers.
