Topic > A Christmas Story: A Penguin's Story - 754

Indeed the night was gray, just like every other December 23rd; a twinkle in the star stared at Vince as the wind whistled in his ears. Soon, the moon fell asleep and slowly disappeared into the rising sun. The holiday spirit was in the air as tourists bustled around Honolulu's Sea Life Park. Like other penguins they squealed with happiness when children visited their exhibit and excited parents took photos. Vince, on the other hand, had a storm cloud hovering over his head. He looks at visitors with disdain because, for example, he hates Christmas. Every year during the holidays, he becomes an outcast among the other penguins in his exhibit and is ridiculed. In disappointment and anger, Vince wanders to the edge of his exhibit where a young boy, whom he later knows as Jack Frost, kindly opens the gate and leaves the penguin free to swing to his heart's content. Lost in the large park, Vince wanders into the director's office where, out of mischief, he starts playing pranks by calling people. Reading the manager's email, he discovers the manager's biggest secret: the manager is a wizard with magical powers and teleportation. When Vincent touches a portkey, he is transported to the place he least wants to be: Winterland. Suddenly, Vince jolts upward and punches a mysterious woman in the face. Mrs. Claus, surprised by his rude awakening, welcomes him. Vince is not at all happy when he realizes that he is in a place characterized by the Christmas spirit. Convinced by Mrs. Claus's tempting promises, he agrees to try to reveal Christmas to himself and try to enjoy this wonderful time of year. Together, Vince and Mrs. Claus stroll the streets watching families sing Christmas carols, enjoy extravagant parties and open presents... in the middle of a sheet of paper... they took Vince back to Sea Life Park in Honolulu where the staff rushed to him like the paparazzi. The keepers of the penguin exhibit and even the penguins themselves were worried about Vince and excited for his return. He told the other penguins about his amazing exploits and the breathtaking scenery he witnessed throughout the entire experience. Now, thanks to the generosity of Mrs. Claus and Mr. Claus, Vince loves Christmas like all the other penguins and is no longer alone during the Christmas season. During Santa's annual visit on Christmas Eve, he and all the other reindeer greet Vincent and leave him a special gift. A year later and indeed the night was grey, but different from any other December 23rd; a twinkle in the star winked at Vince as the wind whispered a beautiful song in his ears. Soon, the moon drifted away and slowly disappeared into the rising sun.
