IntroductionPostmodern anthropology can be described as a method of writing about cultures in a certain way, examining and interpreting the information gathered. Postmodern ethnographers believe that it is how we interpret information that needs to be studied and that the companies' voice should be supported through an informant. They also believe that to do this the use of collaborative ethnography is vital. Collaborative ethnography is a relationship between ethnographers and informants. This, however, could be a group of ethnographers observing and studying a society, it could be a pair of ethnographers and more than one informant, or it could be an ethnographer and his students. There are many different ways in which this could be done, but the important factor is that it is a cooperation and a link between more than one author, in order to construct an anthropological writing. This essay will examine some of the benefits and limitations of using collaborative ethnography and how this in turn can influence the style of anthropological writing used. It will argue that this type of ethnography is important for achieving reliability, relevance and efficiency when writing about a society collaboratively, but will also include the limitations that need to be addressed when working as a team towards an overall goal.Advantages and limitationsWhen using the collaborative ethnography, the anthropologist should consider the benefits of using this technique to collect information and observed data. Because of the nature of collaborative ethnography, having more than one person writing together is an advantage in itself.
