Every day, scientists are always looking for ways to improve technologies. Inventions of the past have been innovated to work better and faster than they ever have before, making things easier and quicker to discover and work on. One of these inventions was X-rays. It was first discovered in 1895 by a German physics professor, Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen, who performed the first human x-ray on his wife's hand. X-rays have been around for a while now and many changes have been made to make them work better. X-rays have brought many benefits to the medical field and have helped save many lives. Before the discovery of X-rays many things were impossible for doctors and scientists. When someone got hurt, such as broke a bone, the doctor had to go blind to find the almost exact location of the broken bone and attempt to repair it. Doctors had to use physical exams and their own hypothesis to determine what they were looking for. A physical exam simply involves looking at the body, palpating it, listening to the sounds the body makes, and usually tapping the body to see what sound it makes. In the past, doctors could only use these methods to figure out where a broken bone, tumor or even bullet was located. Of course these tests were not free, the patient had to pay for them. Life before X-rays was unimaginable, and the invention has helped people ever since. While X-rays can have many advantages, they can also have disadvantages that limit their use. If exposed to prolonged or too strong rays, a process called ionizing radiation can occur. In this process any living tissue in the human body can be damaged; because ionizing radiation (with enough s...... middle of paper ...... which can affect the body. I think society takes great advantage of X-rays and does not appreciate them enough. Without such an amazing method invention we wouldn't be able to perform many procedures that have become part of everyday life nowadays we don't need to do physical exams to figure out what's wrong with a person, we can just x-ray them to find the problem X-rays can help a lot, but we must be careful because they can be dangerous and hurt the person being helped. Our society sees X-rays in many places that people use on a daily basis to help improve our society and make it a safer and more secure place. benefit an injured victim..
