The history of chemistry dates back from ancient times to the present day. Ancient civilizations used technologies that would later form the basis of various branches of chemistry by 1000 BC. For example, they extracted chemicals from plants to make medicines. The history of chemistry is intertwined with the history of thermodynamics. Chemistry is very important to our world today. Without it, we wouldn't be as advanced as we are. Let's take scientists for example. Scientists at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; every day they work to find the cure for various types of cancer by mixing different chemicals and producing various compounds to somehow help all children with the capital word today. Chemistry plays an important role in things we would never think about. Before chemistry, I would say society was a mess. We didn't know the periodic table of elements. Which is frankly mind-blowing considering the fact that the elements make up almost everything around us. People living today will live much longer lives than they would have then because chemistry is what helps us discover all our medicines, vaccines, etc. We didn't know DNA. This is the carrier of all our genetic information. Without chemistry we would not have had liquid oxygen, which is rocket fuel. Without this the space race would never have happened. This means we would have no satellite TV or Internet. Without the Internet I would not be writing this chemistry article right now. Without chemistry we wouldn't have cell phones. Without cell phones, today's teenagers simply wouldn't know what to do with themselves. It's one thing after another. The world needs chemistry! Natural resources involved in chemistry would like...... middle of paper ......work to find a cure for cancer keep trying and trying again, who is there to say we won't have one in ten years the street. That would be really cool! So, simply put, without chemistry we would be absolutely nowhere today. Our technology is so ridiculously advanced that I don't see how it could get even more advanced. Yet, somehow, our scientists keep trying to come up with some crazy new invention that is supposed to make our world somehow better. As I see it from my point of view, our world cannot become more advanced than it is now. But the chemistry continues to amaze me and hasn't failed yet. So I'm quite interested to see what chemists around the world will be working on for the next big thing. Finally, to summarize this article, chemistry makes our world go round. Without it, we would still be sitting in the dark.
