(brown-face.com) Dating back to the frontier era, Hispanic Americans have been victims of racial discrimination due to the constant images portrayed of them starting with battle for Mexican territory in the southwest. As Hispanics settled and time passed, Hispanic gangs began to form in California in the early 1920s. It all started with the desire for unity when they banded together, socializing within their own neighborhoods where they all shared the same language, customs and culture. They began with very little leadership or formal structure, but maintained a strong defense of their territorial borders.
