Topic > Entitlement programs that help people but hurt…

Many people see the United States as a country of opportunity where you can live happily and have the opportunity to achieve any goal you may have, regardless of your class or financial status. This idea is made possible by our government. But our government may not be able to provide as much help toward that dream if we continue to fall deeper and deeper into debt. In my opinion we need to underfund all these welfare programs in America so that the rest of us can grow up and force others to take responsibility and grow up. Helping those who participate in the programs has come at a cost to our country. We have accumulated a colossal amount of debt. This is due to many different factors, one of which is government spending on assistance programs. This expense piled on an already enormous amount of debt. This creates a barrier to our ability to get out of our debt. This obstacle lies in the assistance programs. Those who participate in assistance programs do not have the means to repay taxes to the government. We are investing billions of dollars in programs to help citizens who cannot help themselves, in the hope that they will rise out of poverty and become viable citizens and help pay their taxes. On paper this is a great idea, however, like many ideas, it has some drawbacks. Many of the citizens we hope will emerge from their situation do not. This is a problem because we now have more people receiving money than we have people contributing to programs. If we reduce funding for these programs we can help slow the rate at which we go into debt. Even stars are taking the nation's debt seriously like star Matt Damon "we need to stop giving money and start making it" Help those who participate... middle of paper... some do The United States is a country where you can live happily and are given the opportunity to achieve all the goals you have. This opportunity is given to us thanks to the help our government provides us; however things may not remain that way due to the growing amount of debt. This is not abating due to overfunding of relief programs and increased pressure on businesses. We need to contact our government officials and tell them that we need to allocate less money to relief programs and take those extra funds and give them to businesses to bring jobs back to the United States, or we as a country will collapse. In conclusion, we need to reduce the weight of these programs and have strong qualifications on these programs, but that will not be possible with this present, we will have to wait for a new one, hopefully we can keep the American dream alive.
