Introduction In recent years, as a consequence of the impact on society created by recent huge corporate collapses and, more recently, the ongoing economic crisis, the concept of Corporate Governance has become become central in the economic, academic and institutional debate. At the center of this debate is the attempt to rethink and model the company system and mechanisms in such a way as to "instill in companies the vision, processes and structures essential for making decisions that guarantee greater longevity". term sustainability". (Vice President, Business Advisory Services, IFC). This mandate is valid not only for corporate actors but also for the public sector, whose role is to create public value, through the development of reasonable policies, while satisfying the needs of various stakeholders and responding to the growing demand for responsibility, fairness and transparency. This paper focuses on analyzing the governance failures of one of the UK government's most innovative and promising information technology projects: FiReControl. Started in 2004, FiReControl was supposed to be the future of fire and rescue services. Instead after 7 years it was canceled and branded "one of the worst cases of project failure" in the history of the British government. It is argued that the failure of the project was of two types (1) Ineffective involvement of key stakeholders and (2) Lack of leadership and management skills. The idea is that the lack of involvement of key stakeholders, in the specific context of FiReControl, had a negative impact on the overall performance of the project and worsened an already weak leadership model. Questions have also been raised from the perspective of stakeholder theory.
