Money in the traditional sense no longer exists. Money is becoming more of a concept than a physical material, and most common bitters have not seen the reality of the change. People today use credit and debit cards regularly and in everyday situations such as meals purchased at fast food restaurants, highway tolls, clothing, groceries, gas stations, etc. All these systems could be considered as a cashless society or world. The question we might ask is: what is a cashless society? What are the implications of living in a cashless world? To begin with, a cashless society could be thought of as a world where all bills and debts are paid with the use of electronic money such as bank and credit cards, direct debits and online payments. payment. (Corporate definition for: Cashless Society, 2009). Looking back at history, we could see that our ancestors once lived in a cashless world. You might wonder how this was possible. The system was based on barter where goods were exchanged for something else. My father once told me that people from the nearby town came to our town in Edo State, Nigeria, using a liter of red oil, palm wine, cattle and cow in exchange for a plot of land to cultivate. Furthermore, the inhabitants of the city also exchange materials such as clothes, shoes etc. to obtain a plot of land to cultivate. As money became available, the rate at which people used the barter system reduced substantially, meaning that only a few people were still adopted for barter after the use of money had been institutionalized as a medium of exchange. The use of credit and debit cards today are making a rounds in the sense that electronic cash is becoming more and more permissible as the world transitions to war... at the heart of the paper society, I would say that living in a cashless society is the way to go. Let us work together to make this future dream a reality so that we can be competent, knowledgeable and capable in fighting crime in our society. Works Cited Arbeau, S. (2009, October 16).
