Topic > Blank Verses in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

“Epic, passionate and poetic”. Romeo and Juliet is written in blank verse. This simply means “unrhymed iambic pentameter.” For example, two families, both equal in dignity, in beautiful Verona, where we set our scene, from the ancient rancor to the new mutiny, where civil blood makes civil hands impure. Hence the fatal loins of these two enemies A pair of ill-fated lovers take his life. It may seem “melodramatic,” but it's perfect for the show. Shakespeare makes the plot actually work up to the hype (Romeo and Juliet writing style). “It truly tugs at the reader's heart as they empathize with the universal, unconditional, and ideal love story of the protagonists, the depiction of the perfect, immortal love that is captured and protected with youth” (Genevieve). Every emotion in the show is heightened. From the beginning the two protagonists are somehow aware that they are destined to die. Yet they give up everything to love. “Uncontrollable emotion and its consequences is one of the main themes of the work” (Dutta). Romeo is extremely impulsive, which causes him many problems throughout the story. He remains so devoted in his love for Juliet and his desire to remain by her side that he follows her even into death. However, it is the action that moves the story forward. “The objective characters are concerned with engaging in battles of wits, will, and physical strength, leading to a quarrel between the two families so old that the original reasons are no longer even discussed” (Huntley, K. E. Monahan). Additionally, Shakespeare centers the plot around verbal messages. For example, Romeo, Mercutio, and Benvolio only learn about Capulet's ball accidentally from the Capulet servant. ...... in the center of the card ......ler's blood. For this reason, if Romeo and Juliet are discovered, one of them will be killed. The Capulets and Montagues refuse to forgive, so they will continue to be bitter enemies for generations to come. This will cause much more pain for Verona. However, in the end everyone is gathered to hear the Friar's story. Promotes pity, guilt and compassion among families. It also affects the prince, who counts his name among the culprits. Thus begins the journey of reconciliation between families. "In Romeo and Juliet the decisive events of the play occur with instantaneous rapidity: the servants quarrel on sight, the lovers fall in love at first sight, the shock of the tragic catastrophe suddenly and completely converts the parents from hatred to love" ( Huntley, K.E. Monahan). I believe this is one of the greatest, most tragic and classic love stories of all time.
