Topic > Patria's Butterflies - 1287
Initially, Patria had always strongly believed in God, which made her ignore the prejudices that occurred during Trujillo's reign, such as people killed by the dictator (53). Patria had a stillborn child and the pain of losing a loved one made her relate to the families who had lost their relatives due to Trujillo's injustices (53). Suffering the pain of her loss caused her to lose her faith, which led Patria's beliefs to evolve from a God-centered view towards a people-centered faith. The evolution of her faith is aided by her experience on the pilgrimage, when she heard Mary tell her to reverse her religious views towards people in need. This was because her entire life she had focused on God and not on service
