Another valid argument is that animals are different from humans and therefore questions the validity of animal testing.The drug Talidomine, a sleeping pill produced in the 1950s, has caused severe deformities in over 10,000 children, despite extensive testing on animals. Another drug, Vioxx, has shown positive results in protecting the heart in children mice, but the drug caused nearly 30,000 heart attacks and was later withdrawn from the market. This shows that anatomical and cellular differences between animals and humans do not allow for accurate testing and shows that animals are poor testers
