Topic > Introducing the Film Idea Torn or the Decision

Rationale: I came up with the idea to create a film based on the central structure and themes of Noel Coward's play Blithe Spirit. This film will be a great love story and will be more geared towards gaining public acclaim rather than achieving critical success. The audience we will target are young girls and women. Romantic films have always been enjoyed primarily by women. It gives them an excuse to meet up with their friends and dream about getting swept away by the guy of their dreams. Women are known to be very emotional and this romantic film will make them laugh in some scenes and cry in others. They will fall in love with Cameron's (protagonist) beautiful personality and show compassion towards the difficult decision he faces. Girls will flock to see this movie. They will be attracted by the complicated plot and complex relationships. Adaptation: Blithe Spirit is a comic play about the writer Charles Condomine who is visited by his first wife, Elvira. Unfortunately, Charles is now married to a woman named Ruth and Elvira is a ghost. I adapted the play into a film by changing several aspects. For example, the book is set in 1940s London countryside and the film is set in modern-day New York City. The ages of the characters were also changed to appeal to the target female audience. In the comedy Madame Arcati, the eccentric medium who evokes Elvira. In the film, this character is adapted from Cameron's friend Andrew. She resembles Madame Arcati because she gives him advice to have relationships with both Elsa and Rebecca, which is similar to the medium reporting the relationship between Charles and Elvira. Although there are many things that have changed the themes in both...... middle of paper ...... to find himself. The lyrics, "The Dog Days", are about the very hot days of August, when dogs lie in the heat with nothing to do due to oppression. This is the literal meaning of the phrase, but metaphorically the lyrics of the song “The Dogs Day Are Over” mean that moments of the past have been left behind and it is now time to take action and move forward. Just like the lyrics of the song, Cameron is escaping the city to find himself and move on with his life. The phrase: “Leave all your love and desire behind you. You can't take it with you if you want to survive. it means Cameron has to leave Rebecca and Elsa behind. He cannot take them with him if he wants to achieve his goal of moving forward. The songs fuel Cameron and the audience with motivation, telling them that the best things in life await.
