It was depicted more in the movie on both Edward and Jim. There are two distinct types of jealousy, reactive and suspicious. Reactive jealousy was considered good behavior and favored by researchers such as Attridge (2013). In the film, Jim displayed multiple reactive jealousies towards Edward after finding out that Kim was in love with Edward. According to Swami et al., (2012), jealousy formation is high when a partner's value perception is ranked higher than one's own. Jim thought it was a waste for Kim to be together with Edward because she is out of his league. This is understandable since Jim and Kim were lovers and Jim was probably prejudiced because love is blind. In addition to this, the reactive jealousy that Jim had towards Edward was due to the fact that he felt the physical threat of Edward taking Kim away from him. This led to an argument that turned into a fistfight and ended in the death of one of the two. Beyond that, Jim and Kim probably weren't lovers for very long as Attridge (2013) argued that the longer you are in a relationship, the less suspicion you have about your partner's infidelity. Peg and Bill played this flawlessly as Bill never worried about Peg cheating on him, even though she spent a lot of time taking care of Edward and helping him whenever he needed a hand.
