Many religions have influenced the thoughts and beliefs of millions of people around the world. Two of these religions are Islam and Christianity, both similar, but incredibly different. Christianity, which dates back long before Islam, is known to be the root of Islam, which makes sense since the two religions share a lot in common. They are both Abrahamic and monotheistic religions, meaning they share a belief in only one true existing God and are rooted in having many similarities. Their differences, however, are what make them two distinct religions, which is why they are recognized and classified as such. Similarities and differences emerge in many topics and situations, but differences take over and divide them into dissimilarities. These topics include religious beliefs, teachings, rituals, and practices. More specifically, what I mean is prophecy, sacred texts, the afterlife, the purpose of messengers, angels and human creation, and so much more. Both Islam and Christianity teach lifestyles to their believers to be successful in life and after death, as these religions believe in a linear pattern in which time on Earth is temporary. This is different from the older, more circular religions of Hinduism and Buddhism, which believe in reincarnation until moksha or enlightenment is achieved. Islam and Christianity are evangelizing religions that believe that without the true guidance of God and his holy words, human beings are only on the path of sin and nothing greater. One of the goals of both is to spread the word of God and bring the entire human creation on the right path to heaven. Evidence of this belief has been seen in history, when the British Empire's goal was to take over... middle of paper... sins, he or she will be cleansed of them, and only then can they be entered in heaven. This is one of the very few beliefs between Islam and Christianity that may not be that different. In most cases, even similarities contain differences. In conclusion, it is possible to make a comparison between two or more religions. With Islam and Christianity, however, it is possible to make a comparison that can illustrate similarities and differences in many different ways. For example, even in some similar practices there may be differences. Even in these differences, however, there may still remain similarities such as the purpose and belief behind them. Sometimes it remains to be similar or different. This situation does not occur among many religions and the reason it occurs between Islam and Christianity is because of the Abrahamic roots that they both share.
