Therefore, one activity I would implement as a school counselor would be a “learning day.” This day would be extremely significant for elementary school students, as awareness of career development begins as early as elementary school. As a school counselor, I would contact professionals in different occupations to talk to or teach students like Sandra, a student with a learning disability, (Iris.peabody.vanderbilt.edu) about their experiences in their profession and their college life. This phase engages students in three skill areas: The first skill area would be foundational academic skills.
