Introduction“They live in different worlds, this rings true in the past and future, but for now they come together.”- Kubo Tite, BleachWith the rapid development of globalization and interconnection, people from all over the world have the opportunity to "meet", exchange ideas and opinions, influence each other and shape each other's preferences. Unlike in the past, when media products were produced and distributed exclusively by centralized media institutions, nowadays some of the media content we consume is produced by our fellow consumers. Since online platforms promote creativity of all kinds and social networks allow instant sharing of results, the processes of creation, co-creation and adaptation of cultural products take place rapidly, simultaneously and on a global scale. Since each person carries their own specific cultural identity, user-generated content is diverse and heterogeneous in its character. This large-scale and unprecedented cultural exchange results in the development of a new type of global popular culture that is slowly starting to emerge and take shape. What has enabled this cultural exchange, however, is the fact that people from different cultural and social backgrounds share partially common cultural codes, a common cultural “heritage” left over from the times when the United States dominated mass media flows. Most people who interact on the Internet today and thus shape global popular culture already share common attitudes, behaviors and beliefs, being more or less influenced by American mass media. However, it is important to point out that although this global culture has inherited many of its characteristics and has been strongly influenced by the original American mass media, it has... middle of paper... we get a good perspective on the trends and on the processes that influence our daily lives. Since the media is still an important factor, shaping our everyday experience, it is important to understand how they influence us and how they continue to influence us, where our traditional values end, where "imported" values begin and there is a clear boundary. A global culture is growing, which is the product of each of us shaping the opinions of others as we interact and communicate across the web. It is a complex cultural mosaic made up of pieces of our own cultures that we mix, exchange and then put together to create a common image of the world. While there is always the threat of losing national and cultural identity, there is also the promise of a world that (finally) shares common values and moves in the same direction, caring for and celebrating all its diversity..
