Feeling expanded by the influx of diversity and culture has a positive implication on our lives. It creates opportunities that would otherwise be harder to obtain. Language varies by culture; not just foreign culture. Regardless of where you live in the United States, accents are easy to recognize. In the Northern states we refer to carbonated drinks as “pop,” while in the South, regardless of their flavor, they are called “coke.” Differences in daily lifestyle are significantly noted between the East and West Coasts. On the east coast, a much faster lifestyle is practiced, while on the west coast, a more relaxed lifestyle is normal. Dress codes speak their language. Most fashion shows held by designers are held in New York City. This is because the East Coast is known to have a higher standard of dress than any major city in the southern region of the United States. Shopping malls are a good place to see this difference. Casual dress is normal in Southern malls, while business casual is a very common dress code on the East Coast. Dress codes are a way to communicate social position. It is considered respectful and of good social standing to wear designer clothes. Whereas it is financially feasible for many of us to wear brands like “Old Navy”, “H&M” and “Levi” every day.
