Topic > The Animal Farm Paradox - 1431

Although there is one change in particular that depicts the true downfall of Animal Farm. What was once known as “'four legs good, two legs bad'', animals being four-legged and humans being two-legged, has been changed and animals are now told to understand and respect ''four-legged good, two better legs'”. There were many scenes of not following the commandments. Like sleeping in a bed, drinking alcohol, and exclusively stating that no animal will kill another… for no reason. Yet the most significant change should concern the first two commandments. It is quite surprising that animals now possess human characteristics when they despised them and began rebellion against humans. Later in the novel the pig trades with humans, drinks with humans, and, worst of all, walks on two legs like humans. Changes to commandments and changes in behavior all contribute to Animal Farm's grave downfall. The animals became their enemies, they represented the human being in every word. Although the rebellion hoped to create a future without human exploitation, it failed to create universal equality. The Animal Farm revolution is a paradox in itself: animals have lost sight of their initial ideals and principles. Leading to the complete and severe downfall of Animal Farm. The animal's lack of intellect can be considered the reason for the fall, but Squealer's consecutive manipulation is what ultimately leads to its death.
