” When we think of love, we often imagine honeymoons, weddings and a happy couple. The love in this novel goes far beyond the love of people in a relationship. There are examples of family love, community love and friendship love. One point is demonstrated by Atticus' unconditional love for his children: a strong bond of familial love. Tom Robinson's community during the rigorous process shows incredibly powerful communal love and love for others. The never-ending friendship between Scout and Dill is an exemplary model of the naive love of childhood friendship. Lee's novel displays many model accounts of love through its characters. Even though the words “I love you” may never have been spoken; love is felt completely. To Kill a Mockingbird has been read for years and will continue to be read for many reasons, but one important reason is due to the way Lee shows multiple examples of unconditionality.
