However, for other students they see this court case topic as disgusting, but nevertheless they also saw the big picture, which I was happy to see, as there are also college students who I can't think about it critically. For the debate, I split the students by putting most of the higher achieving students on one side that I knew would require more critical thinking. However, I also made sure that the other group also had high results. I did this for a reason, as I know that any student would most likely argue that what the Westboro Baptist Church does is bad, but another side is needed for a debate. Therefore, I knew that higher achieving people would be able to think more critically about this aspect. In a way, I've tried to frame this discussion in a way that allows all students to have a path to success. I also incorporated a writing prompt so that students could write their honest opinions about Westboro Baptist Church, so that all students could then express their own opinion about Westboro Baptist Church.
