The character of Jay Gatsby relates perfectly to that idea. Gatsby's determination to have everything he wants leads him to achieve his childhood dreams of becoming a man of wealth and status, it is directly related to people in the 1920s who had the determination to become someone with superiority and class. Furthermore, Gatsby's hope of achieving every aspect of the American dream by improving everything in his life leads him to hope that his one true love is his; which can be linked back to the American Dream of the 1920s because many people hoped that by putting in the time and effort, their dream would eventually magically come true for them. You could say that Gatsby was one of the truly lucky ones because he ended up realizing almost all aspects of his dream. Overall, Gatsby ultimately had a better life than he had as a boy; he had a more luxurious home, a superior job, and a higher social status. But unfortunately, even at his death, he never fully achieved that strong love that would last a lifetime
