Focused primarily on scripture, faith, and works, Martin Luther's reformation had a significant impact on Western religious thought and practice. Challenging the long-established Catholic Church, Martin Luther established the doctrine as the main focus of Protestantism. Likewise, Buddha Shakyamuni was able to effectively implement the doctrinal dimension of Ninian Smart.
